Rosen College of Hospitality at UCF – Worlds Best Hotel School

After many years without a local identity, the Hotel School at the University of Central Florida was put on the map five years ago with an $18.5 million and a 25 acre prime real estate donation from Orlando’s (and perhaps world’s) greatest hotelier – Harris Rosen of Rosen Hotels and Resorts. This donation was also matched by state tax dollars.

Mr. Rosen personally handled the construction of the Rosen school, as he believed he could build the school at half the cost of most projections. Great care was put into designing the ergonomic functionality of the campus which has a distinct Mediterranean look.

The Rosen College of Hospitality also offers on-site student accommodations which were actually designed by students (and look more like luxury condos with views of the Shingle Creek championship golf course).

Many academics once considered a particular Ivy League school to have the best hospitality school program and facilities in the world. If you have visited the Rosen Hotel School at the University of Central Florida (UCF) recently, you might strongly disagree with that assessment. Many such academics are now teaching at the school.

Rosen College Location

The Rosen Hotel School at UCF sits just off International Drive amongst Central Florida’s 130,000+/- hotel rooms, 25,000+/- Orlando vacation homes, tens of thousands of timeshare units and the world’s largest theme parks.

The Rosen School focuses on academic and practical applications to the hospitality industry with studies in the catering, hotel, attraction and timeshare industries. It will be interesting to see how vacation home management is absorbed into the academic mainstream as Orlando is in the forefront of this industry.

The Rosen College of Hospitality is now considered by many to be the top hospitality campus in the world. The faculty are from leading schools and fields in the industry, and with approximately 3000+/- students it offers the broadest array of hospitality classes available anywhere today.

This year the University of Central Florida received more student applications than any other college in the state – knocking out powerhouses such as the University of Florida. UCF’s GPA minimum is getting closer every year to the 4.0 standard which means only the brightest students get accepted. Most interestingly, the tuition at UCF currently runs just $150.85 per credit hour for in-state residents – a fraction of the cost of private hotel schools/colleges.

The Rosen College of Hospitality has become the incubator for top industry talent. The students are focused, smart, hungry and know the industry. The next generation of top industry leaders are well on their way.
