There are over 90 vacation home communities in the Disney area with over 20,000 homes to choose from.

Before selecting a home (or even a community), you may want to consider the following questions:

  1. What type of home do you want to rent? - A condo, town home or a single family home?
  2. What type of community do you need? - Gated and/or guarded community,  and with extensive resort amenities?
  3. Location? How close do you want be to the parks and which attractions? -  Disney, Universal Studios, Sea World or the Orlando Convention Center?
  4. How many people will be staying in the house? – How many bedrooms will you need? - Some vacation homes in the Orlando area have as many as 8 bedrooms and can sleep 18 people.
  5. What additional amenities do you want? – A private gameroom for the kids, heated pool (typically costs extra), internet access, spa, etc…?

If you are working with a professional vacation home management company with extensive area knowledge, they will be able to guide you through the multitude of available options in the area. They can also help you make a more informed rental decision.

New Roller Coaster Universal Studios Orlando

Orlando, Fla. – We just got back from previewing the state of the art roller coaster now under construction at Universal Studios Orlando. We also took some photos of the new roller coaster at Universal Studios Orlando.

The new Universal Studios rollercoaster is called - The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster.

The Roller Coaster is unique for several reasons. First, it actually goes through the theme park above the heads of tourists. Second, it has a record breaking loop. Third, the coaster has a staggering climb and drop of 17 stories with speeds up to 65 miles an hour.. Fourth, the ride is totally customizable to the rider – riders will be able to program their own music on the coaster and edit a video of their ride once they disembark to take home.

The ride will be an intense sensory experience with color changing LED/s and high energy visual displays.

Clearly, as the new roller coaster in Universal Studios Orlando, The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster will be the rollercoaster ride for 2009-2010 in Orlando.

See our new rollercoaster Universal Studios Orlando video preview below as well as a map of Universal Studios Orlando.

Halloween Horror Nights ® at Unversal Studios ® started out as a means to attract residents and tourists during a relatively slow time in the Orlando tourist calendar of October and November. The Universal Orlando® Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights® 2009 has since become a global phenomenon attracting people from all over the world.

For certain nights in September, October and November, one of Orlando’s most popular parks, Universal Studios Florida ®, is transformed into a massive haunted house.

The event is now in its 19th year. The Horror Nights experience has been modified and continuously improved into what many consider to be the best Halloween experience in the world.

Hotels around Universal Studios ® fill up fast for this event and are indicative of how popular the event has become. For those who are looking to make a long weekend or week out of it, and perhaps visit Walt Disney World ® or Sea World ®, you may want to consider renting an Orlando vacation home. The homes are great economical alternatives, and can typically sleep from four to sixteen people, boasting private pools, garages and fully equipped kitchens.

If you are planning on coming to Orlando on a vacation package in 2009, staying on-site in the major parks makes a lot of sense. These hotels have become as competitive as staying off-site. However, if you are in need of more than one room for your vacation in Orlando, privacy and some extra space, an Orlando vacation home rental is a logical alternative offering tremendous value.

The Walt Disney World Resorts ® in Orlando, as we mentioned before, have rolled out some stellar promotions for 2009 to attract guests.

Historically some of the big parks in Orlando have been slow to react to economic swings, but expert MBAs in the revenue management departments and seasoned sales teams are now getting it right.

The Walt Disney World ® parks and sunny weather are the main reasons tourists flock to Orlando. Universal Studios® , SeaWorld ® and the Orlando Convention Center all run a close second.

As a large theme park, Disney ® is able to offer promotions that make it very difficult for regular off-site hotels to compete. Programs that have been recently introduced include “buy 4 days/nights, get 3 free with spendable gift cards, various dining programs, free transportation and park tickets that make the on-site hotel experience extra appealing.

One realm that has yet to be explored by the major Orlando parks is the vacation home concept. This remains the domain of the individual and professional management companies.

If you are booking a hotel, take a serious look at staying on-site, but if you are in need of more than a room, some extra space and privacy, an Orlando vacation home makes great sense. For the benefits of staying in a nearby vacation home, check out a professional Orlando vacation home management company today.

The Best Time to Rent a Vacation Home in Orlando?

January – Good. Parks are still a bit empty, weather is somewhat cooler.

February– Cooler weather. Check when Race Week is in Daytona, during the weekend of the Daytona 500, Orlando and Kissimmee get packed. Homes charge top $ when Race Week hits.

March– Busier. Cooler weather. Parks (Disney, Universal Studios & Seaworld) begin to pick up steam, conventions increase and spring break kicks in. Thus, rates go up. Check your Easter week dates as well.

April – Very similar to March. Do your homework as to when spring break and Easter fall. Generally a very pleasant time in Orlando. A great time to book an Orlando villa.

May – Can be very nice. Weather starts getting humid.

June – Busy. Hot humid weather quite often. Vacation homes can fill up with summer vacationers. Highest rainfall period of year.

July - Busy. Hot humid weather quite often. Vacation homes fill up with summer vacationers. Watch out for July 4th weekend, the area is packed.

August - Busy, but everything slows down. Hot humid weather quite often. Vacation homes are somewhat filled with summer vacationers.

September – Slow and empty, and great deals can be had! Slow parks and somewhat cooler weather.

October - Conventions pick-up, but weather does begin cool. Deals can be found. Halloween Horror nights is in on so weekends can get busy, but this effects more the hotels around Universal Studios than the vacation homes in the south toward Disney.

November - Typically a slower month, with nice cooler weather. Thanksgiving can be busy, so do your homework. Vacation rentals are a great way to enjoy the season!
