The much awaited Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios is now open. We ventured out in the middle of June fighting some serious summer heat and humidity to take a look.

This is our first visit to an Orlando theme park attraction where we have seen visitors running to get to a section of the park. The lines to get into Harry Potter were long (1.5 hr wait for the main ride) at 8:45 a.m. We would anticipate that the lines will begin to die down as the initial thrill of this major new attraction dissipates.

We were able to take the following photos of the Harry Potter theme park to give you some idea of what to expect. In addition, we have also added a video of the Harry Potter theme park attraction.

In this post, we take a moment to discuss some of the vacation options we see in the Orlando area vacation home marketplace. There are a lot of new vacation homes in Orlando to choose from.

Many of the new vacation home rental developments in Orlando are becoming much more like full service resorts rather than traditional vacation home communities. These include common area amenities such as spacious clubhouses, large pools, retail shops, game rooms, concierge services and more.

If You Need A Private Pool - Ask

However, some developments do not include individual pools, and the home density (i.e. apartment, condo or townhome style buildings) is typically much higher than traditional single family homes. In other words, although one may get more common area amenities, the trade-off can occasionally be a loss of privacy. You may have to walk to the pool rather than having one attached to your vacation rental or possibly put up with some noisy guests next door.

The great thing about the Orlando market is the variety of choice you do have available depending upon which product you wish to stay in. In some cases, there are vacation homes that combine premium luxury resort type elements in their design and service delivery along with fully functional single family pool homes. These tend to receive the highest overall ratings reviews on our website, as it is geared primarily to the typical family/group on vacation in the Orlando area.

The key as a consumer is to know what you are booking and what your expectations are during the vacation planning phase. In all cases, and as we stress on our main page, vacation rentals are still superior in value to hotels. This site also gives you the opportunity to view video of most new vacation homes in Orlando.

Orlando Bike Week

Orlando Bike Week is generally speaking a mirrored event to Daytona’s Bike week. For 2009 it is typically February 27, 2009 to March 8, 2009.

Orlando Bike Week

There is no clearly defined hangout for bike week in Orlando, but Orlando Harley Davidson ® appears to be a clear favorite (see our interactive map below).

The events at Orlando Harley Davidson go on all day and generally get busier in the afternoon. They offer live band, bar, an array of shops and various custom bikes on show. The event is well organized with on site parking for motor cylcles and slightly off site parking for cars (with shuttle).

Many bikers like to go to Orlando during bike week to visit some of the local attractions.

Perhaps most amazing is how global Bike Week has become in Central Florida. A large portion of the people now attending bike week are in fact visitors from overseas who come to Central Florida just for the bike week experience.

As always, we recommend if coming to Orlando for bike week consider renting a vacation home, especially if you are bringing a bike so you can store it in your own garage away from busy hotel parking lots.
