Orlando area vacation homes were given a credibility boost when they were featured in the Orlando CVB’s Orlando Makes Me Smile tourism promotion for the area.
The 67 Days of Smiles tour by Kyle Post and Stacey Doornbos visited a vacation home community on Day 62 of their tour. As we have blogged before, vacation homes are becoming a more mainstream choice for Orlando tourists. This promo choice exemplifies this fact.
Acadia Estates villas were also featured in a video tour of the luxurious Kissimmee vacation rental community on the Orlando CVB website. Acadia Estates is an exclusive community of 5 to 7 bedroom vacation rentals in a private gated cul-de-sac. Acadia Estates is located in a convenient location approximately 7 miles to Disney’s Magic Kingdom and 4 miles to Animal Kingdom.
We applaude the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau for carving out time for Kyle and Stacey to view and stay in a representative vacation home community. Acadia Estates is/was an excellent choice for the type of quality accommodations that vacation rentals have to offer visitors to the area.

A few e-mails have trickled in about our recent post related to resort villas in Orlando. The questions have essentially been the same in that we did not specifically mention golf in Orlando. Because golf is such a big part of vacationing and recreation in Orlando, we wanted to do a follow-up blog post enumerating our favorite golf villas.
We’ll define “golf villas” as a vacation rental communiity on or very near a golf course. This would be similar to a “ski in, ski out” resort, but in this case it would be a “golf in, golf out” resort. Based on our opinion reviews, here are our best golf villas in the Orlando area:
Reunion Resort – Outstanding golf course with residential style villas many right on the course. Great for any family or individual that loves golf and wants to get extended time on the course. Our Reunion Resort detailed review has some good photos of the vacation homes and condos on the course.
Highlands Reserve – Excellenent vacation community adjacent to the Highland Reserve golf course. The course itself is a great value if you are staying in the Davenport area. Many of the homes are not right on the course, but they are all in close proximity from this neighborhood.
Windsor Palms Resort – This was formerly named the Wyndham Palms Resort, so it was originally designed as a golf and resort community. Golf at the Mystic Dunes golf course is next door to this resort community. Mystic Dunes is roughly a 7,000 yard, 145 slope rated golf course that many people in the area recommend for any golfer. Windsor Palms itself is an excellent resort with a clubhouse and other recreational amenities.

Consult our community reviews section for full profiles on each of these resort subdivisions. If these specific vacation rental communities are full, there are many excellent vacation homes located nearby golf courses and the major theme parks as well.
Hillcrest vacation homes are newer midsize homes located in Davenport, Florida southwest of Orlando and west of Kissimmee, Florida.
Hillcrest Davenport Florida is located approximately 10 miles from the entrance of the Magic Kingdom ® at the Walt Disney World Resort ®. Hillcrest Orlando is set back in the Lake Davenport Estates area just off Highway 27 in Davenport.
The Hillcrest villas are roughly a 10 minute drive to the major shops and restaurants located north on Highway 192. A car is essential if renting a Hillcrest vacation rental.

The Villas at Island Club Resort is located approximately 7 miles from the Magic Kingdom ® entrance at the Walt Disney World Resort ® as well as just a short drive from Highway 192 and all the restaurants and shops it offers.
The Villas at Island Club Resort is a condominium community located in Kissimmee, Florida and is adjacent to the Lindfields vacation home community.
Condos such as those at the Villas at Island Club offer convenience and community amenities including a community pool, tennis courts, volleyball and a playground area.

The United States Department of Commerce released figures today on international travel and tourism to the United States for January, 2009. The gross number of international travelers was down 9% while the actual gross amount of spending was down 7% from one year ago.
Four countries (out of the top 20) actually showed increases compared to this same monthly period one year ago. These nations were (with their rate of increase): China (37%), Argentina (19%), Italy (6%) and Brazil (5%). Of special note is the fact that Brazilian tourism to the United States has increased its annual comparative growth rate for 32 straight months.
Western European visitation, of special importance to the Florida villas market, was down 12%. Our blog has expressed concern over this recognized trend several months ago.
Villas at Seven Dwarfs Lane Vacation Homes – Orlando Kissimmee
Villas at Seven Dwarfs is a newer community of townhomes that is both gated and guarded (at the time of review). Seven Dwarfs also offers a large pool, game room and play area all in a clean and well maintained vacation setting. Internet access and wifi is also available as well as tennis, volley ball and basket ball.
Villas at Seven Dwarfs Lane is located a little further away (approximately 7.5 miles) from the Walt Disney World ® property than some communities, but is still within a short drive of restaurant and shops.
The Villas at Seven Dwarfs provides for a great resort type community in a clean, well maintained and pleasant setting.
