Rivers of Light Animal Kingdom
The Rivers of Light Animal Kingdom buzz began in October 2013 when Walt Disney World® officially confirmed that a new night time show was in the works for the park. The new Rivers of Light Animal Kingdom night time show will be an overall effort to boost the park’s attendance for a full day’s slate of activities beginning on April 22nd. In addition to the Rivers of Light attraction, Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom will also feature a new night time attraction which will help boost attendance at a later hour as well.

Walt Disney World’s creative team have only described the new Rivers of Light night time attraction as being located between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest in the Discovery River lagoon. Walt Disney World® creative bloggers describe it as including floating lanterns, water screens and with the show containing animal imagery.
Insiders indicate that the new Rivers of Light Animal Kingdom attraction will be debut by mid year 2016. This will be in addition to Avatarland which is expected to be open by 2017 and a new Harambe Nights Festival of the Lion King Show to premiere this June.
Almost simultaneously, a new night time show – Festival of the Lion King Show is slated for Animal Kingdom beginning on June 7th at 7:00 pm. This Harambe Nights Theatre show will take place on Saturday nights from June 7 to August 9 2014 and will come at an additional admission cost. The Festival of the Lion King Show will include live entertainment, celebrity narrators and a live orchestra.
