The wait is nearly over for Harry Potter fans who have been patiently awaiting the opening of Universal Studios new Harry Potter Rollercoaster! The new ride will officially open on June 13 at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Officially named Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure™, the ride won’t resemble any rollercoaster you’ve ever been on. To start, you won’t be seated as in a traditional rollercoaster.
Instead, you’ll be riding aboard your very own motorbike and sidecar. The attraction features both indoor and outdoor treks and promises to be the ultimate thrill ride.
Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures
After completing the “Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures” class, you and your sidekick will get buckled in for your cruise through the Forbidden Forest at speeds of up to 50 mph. If that’s not enough, you’ll be flying through some parts of the forest backwards!
The ride promises to be a high speed adventure as you interact with the various creatures that reside within the Forbidden Forest including Fluffy the three-headed dog, a Centaur, a swarm of Cornish Pixies, and even a “surprise creature” that didn’t appear in any of the Harry Potter movies! And somewhere along the way, prepare yourself to become entangled in a patch of Devil’s Snare! How you make it through all that .. they’re not saying!
According to the attraction’s art director, Alan Gilmore, “over 1,000 live trees were brought in and planted to make the Forbidden Forest as real as possible.”
Dragon Challenge Roller Coaster
Universal made room for the construction of the new coaster back in 2017 when they closed its “Dragon Challenge” roller-coaster which had occupied that site for nearly 20 years. Move over for Hagrid!
Universal was certainly serious when they set out to incorporate the element of speed into its one-of-a-kind motorcycle adventure. The theme park company has been working in partnership with Intamin, a Swiss company famous for its world-renowned rollercoasters Kinda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure and Formula Rossa at Ferrari World, to ensure this ride is cutting edge.
So circle the date, June 13, and get your costumes ready as fellow Harry Potter fans will embark on Orlando by the thousands for an out-of-this-world HP experience!
